New iPhone 14s are Coming
The iPhone has probably been the greatest invention in the 21st Century. That’s not hyperbole either. Can you think of another invention this century that has so profoundly and fundamentally changed the way that people live their lives?
Do you remember the time when you needed to print out mapquest directions everywhere you went?
Do you remember when you used to buy a fold out map from the gas station?
Do you remember having to use a pay phone to make a phone call?
Do you remember beeping someone with a beeper code?
These are all things, amongst many, that the iPhone has made obsolete. It has drastically improved the quality of life and access to information for close to a billion people worldwide, not to mention the additional 3 billion who use Android, which was an open source take on the iPhone.
When the iPhone first came out, it was an event. People would camp out in malls for days just to be amongst the first to get their hands on one of these shiny new devices. Having the latest and greatest iPhone was an instant status symbol. They were modern marvels of technology.
The newest iPhone would be announced by a black turtleneck wearing Steve Jobs who after thoroughly dazzling us would give us “one more thing…” . Jobs had the unique ability to always surprise the public with the newest iPhone features, but he captured the imagination of millions who went on to spawn new ideas of their own on Apple’s App Store, driving innovation that no one could have imagined. The idea that “there’s an app for that” is the type of thinking that created apps like TheaterEars (which we happen to love to hear movies in Spanish)
While the days of camping outside of the mall in sleeping bags and waiting until 3am to get the new iPhone are gone (we have a much better supply chain, plus we have online ordering). the importance of the new iPhone still remains strong today.
For the iPhone 14 we are expected to see improvements in the phone’s processor and Apple’s famous M1 chip set as usual. Contrary to expectations, It has also come out that there will not be an iPhone 14 Max, but rather an iPhone 14 Plus.
“Sources familiar with the matter say Apple has chosen to name the next larger iPhone, the iPhone 14 Plus. In addition, at least since July, iPhone case makers have been told to not use the brand iPhone 14 Max, as it won’t be the actual name of the product,” wrote 9to5Mac’s José Adorno.
There are also expectations that the notch will be redesigned to allow more space at the top of the iPhone, in addition to an extended battery life.
In addition for several months, experts have postulated that Apple will be upgrading its camera from a 12 megapixel camera to a 48 megapixel camera, as well as an increase in size of its rear cameras: wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto.
While some may say that the iPhone launch isn’t as impactful, the proof is in the pudding. Just look at how many people will preorder and buy a new iPhone. It will be in the millions and more than any other new phone on the market.
