Top Gun: Maverick Returns to Movie Theaters
The box office smash of the year, Top Gun: Maverick has landed back into movie theaters…but for a limited time only. This special engagement has Paramount re-releasing the movie to movie theaters from December 2nd to December 15th, nationwide. This also includes specialty formats like IMAX.
The Tom Cruise starring blockbuster broke all kinds of box office records for 2022, broke into the top 5 highest grossing US movies of all time, was Tom Cruise’s largest box office opening weekend, and easily became the number 1 movie of the year.
Although Top Gun: Maverick is available on digital now (coming soon to Paramount + this December 22nd), the movie and its intense flying and action sequences lend itself to being seen on the big screen.
So far only two movies, Paramount’s Top Gun: Maverick ($1.48 billion) and Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World Dominion ($1.00 billion) have crossed the $1 billion dollar milestone.
Those two movies could have company soon with the success of Disney/Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Disney/20th Century Studios Avatar: The Way of Water. Despite these strong movies, US box office receipts are still down 33% from 2019.
